For a second year in a row, David Shlomi of Rising Realty Partners won both the individual and team championship at Hillsides annual Battle of the Paddles ping pong tournament

LOS ANGELES, CA, April 12, 2017 - Hillsides, a Southern California foster care charity, raised $20,000 during the third annual Battle of the Paddles ping pong tournament held on April 6 at the SPiN Standard in Downtown Los Angeles. Local businesses and individuals signed up to sponsor teams and to vie for both a team and individual championship. For a second year in a row, David Shlomi of Rising Realty Partners was the individual winner of the tournament. The four-member team from Rising consisting of Shlomi, John Golden, Dan Klein and Jason Miller also won the team championship for a second year in a row. The foursome took home coveted Costa Cup, named for Joseph M. Costa, Hillsides president and chief executive officer. The money raised from the tournament will be used for the expressive arts and recreation on Hillsides’ Pasadena campus. The Pasadena campus houses a Residential Treatment Services program for children in foster care or who cannot live at home for other reasons and a school, the Hillsides Education Center, for students in kindergarten through 12th grade with social-emotional, learning and/or behavioral challenges. “We are thankful for all of the teams who showed up to play in our third annual ping pong tournament,” said Costa. “It was a wonderful way to spend an evening and at the same time, help the 125 children we serve annually at the residential program and the 130 students at the school.” About Hillsides Hillsides provides high quality care, advocacy, and innovative services that promote safe, permanent environments where children and youth can thrive.
